31 Days of Autumn Bliss — Day 24: Sunday Drive-by

Time for another Autumn Sunday drive by!

I’m always drawn to fairy-tale houses — the ones that stand apart from cookie-cutter designs. On a recent drive I discovered a charming home perched on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle with an enchanting view of the city.

The property is full of character — even the yard features oversized chess pieces that give the place a whimsical, storybook feel.

I love walking up close to examine architectural details: lanterns flanking the door, decorative ironwork over the entry, and charming trim above the windows and beneath the sills. Those small elements are what give a home its personality.

I’m sure the residents noticed me taking photos from the sidewalk — I promise I stayed outside and kept my distance.

Looking up reveals a stained-glass skylight framed by graceful arched windows — a detail that adds warmth and a sense of history to the facade.

This home feels like it belongs in a storybook. The balcony, the texture of the walls, and the layered rooflines all suggest there are interesting rooms inside — I’d love to see how the interior is arranged.

At any moment it seems like someone might let their hair down from that little balcony.

The street itself adds to the ambiance — a tree-lined, slightly tucked-away avenue that enhances the home’s fairy-tale quality.

Do you have any fairy-tale houses where you live?

Thanks for joining me on this little drive-by.
