I’m interrupting your summer to bring you this public service announcement:

I love Fall.

If you’ve visited here before, that probably comes as no surprise.

I enjoy every season, but Autumn holds a special place in my heart.

For the past three years I’ve celebrated the season in many ways. From my annual Fall Nesting Parties to seasonal series and casual drive-bys, I can’t get enough of this time of year.

Last October my friend Nester gathered a group of bloggers and we each hosted a 31-day series. The idea was to inspire readers daily around a focused theme. Here were last year’s topics and contributors:

  • 31 Days to a Less Messy Nest — Nester, Nesting Place
  • 31 Days to Stress-Free Entertaining — Sandy, The Reluctant Entertainer
  • 31 Days to a Better Photo — Darcy, Life With My 3 Boybarians
  • 31 Days to More with Less — Jen, Balancing Beauty and Bedlam
  • 31 Days of Autumn Bliss — Melissa, The Inspired Room
  • 31 Days of Living Simply — Emily, Remodeling This Life
  • 31 Days of Grace — Emily, Chatting at the Sky
  • 31 Days to an Inspired Table — Kendra, My First Kitchen (with Jessica from The Mom Creative)

Because the series ran in October, my contribution was titled 31 Days of Autumn Bliss. My goal was to encourage a sense of contentment and warmth at home during Fall.

During that month I shared posts on preparing a cozy entryway, organizing the kitchen, designing seasonal rooms, and even led a few Autumn Drive Bys around Seattle. It was a delightful month of ideas and inspiration.

If you want to get a head start on fall, you can read the full Autumn Bliss series on my site.

This year we’re reuniting for 31 Days of Change. I’ve actually planned ahead a bit more this time — a rare achievement for me. I’ve chosen the series title and sketched topics for each week.

After four years of blogging I’m starting to think in advance more often. I still embrace the occasional creative chaos, but I’m learning to blend spontaneity with a little structure.

31 Days: Inspired Holidays

My focus this year is on welcoming Fall at home while gathering simple inspiration for the upcoming holiday season. I want the series to help rekindle a genuine affection for the holidays in small, manageable ways. I often blog to motivate myself, and I’m glad you join me for the ride.

Over 31 days I’ll share practical ideas, inspirational tips, and daily motivation to fully embrace the holiday season. We’ll cover more than wreaths and mantels — expect a variety of creative, approachable topics to help you prepare for the season.

I know summer is in full swing for many of you and the holidays might feel far off, but I’ll be ready on October 1 to help make the most of the season. Ideas are already percolating, and I’m excited for a smooth transition into autumn and the holidays.

Joining me in October will be other talented women, each sharing their own 31-day series.

This year we’ll also host 31 Day Series link-ups so you can join in with your own 31-day project — any topic you choose.

Will you join us? And will Seattle finally get its summer in October while the rest of the country cools down? I sure hope so!

It’s going to be a lot of fun. Mark your calendars for October — see you then!
