I love a simple, informal table that still feels warm and charming. Last year I found these tiny woodland animal ornaments at a craft store and immediately fell for them. This season, instead of hanging them on the tree, I decided to use them as whimsical place cards for a relaxed Thanksgiving setting. They’re small, sweet, and add personality without fuss.
We received a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner from Harry & David and used it as an excuse to create a rustic woodland tablescape. Natural textures and neutral tones worked well with the little animals, while simple greenery and wooden accents kept the look grounded and approachable. There’s even a playful, out-of-place whale on the table—totally unnecessary, but it makes me smile.
For this table I focused on keeping things low-key: a wood or wood-look table, a few sprigs of evergreen or eucalyptus woven down the center, and place settings that feel cozy rather than formal. The woodland figurines act as place markers and little talking points; they also make tidy, inexpensive favors guests can take home.
If you enjoy flavorful, easy holiday meals, I wrote about the Harry & David Thanksgiving feast on their blog. Their gift boxes and fruit selections have been a favorite of ours for years, and they make great presents as well as delicious family dinners.
Visiting their orchards and packing facilities was a memorable and tasty experience, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for the care that goes into their products. That trip inspired part of this simple celebration—using beautiful food as the centerpiece and letting the table styling be relaxed and natural.
Quick tip: if you love the woodland look but don’t have small figurines, printable woodland gift tags or simple paper name cards with a woodland motif can do the same job. They’re an easy, budget-friendly option that still feels thoughtful and festive.
