TThis year, for the Michaels’ Dream Tree challenge, my daughters and I chose a Winter Wonderland theme. Instead of using flocking or real snow to achieve a wintry look, we built the effect with fluffy white pom-poms, oversized sparkly white poinsettias, faux fruit, and glittery silver and gold ornaments. The combination created the bright, snowy appearance we wanted without any mess.
If you missed our shopping trip for the theme and ornaments, you can find that recap on our planning post.
We had a great time decorating this tree together. We plan to add at least one more Christmas tree this season because it’s fun to have more than one style around the house. Our family tradition is to go cut down a fresh tree each year, and we’re looking forward to that outing.

I love November for the gentle transition from fall to the holidays. It’s a time when I can still enjoy autumn while beginning to plan for Christmas. A little early preparation makes the holiday season more relaxed and more enjoyable.
I always get a big burst of creative energy in early November. Do you?
That surge of motivation might come from the approaching holidays and the urge to nest as the weather cools. Every November I seem to tackle a repaint or a redecorating project. This year I’m working on decorating three—maybe four—rooms. I’ll share updates as those projects progress.
Inspired by the festive mood, I even squeezed in a quick holiday craft recently: a glittery snow candle. It was easy and fun to make, and it’s a simple project you can recreate at home.
