Winston’s Birthday Weekend: Spot the One That’s Different

TThe last week has been full of activity and simple pleasures. Winston turned 17 and we celebrated with a tiny party hat and cupcakes. He’s adorable, though he refused to sit still for a proper photo—this was the best candid I could capture. He looks a bit startled, but I truly think he enjoyed the attention and treats.

My husband and I escaped for a couple of days without the kids or dogs and it was wonderfully restorative. We shopped (yes, Anthropologie made the list), savored delicious meals, and spent carefree hours riding ferries. I snapped some drive-by photos of charming houses in Port Townsend that I want to share later this week—there were several I loved and I’ll post them soon.

Back home, we enjoyed time with our kids, sampled more great food, and tackled some painting projects around the house—starting with my office. Small improvements are adding up, and the fresh paint already looks incredible. One coat is down and one more to go before we dive into the next stage of updating the space.

We also managed to get one of our ten-year-old cars repaired, which felt like a real win after a busy week. If you’re guessing which part of the week was least fun, you’re probably right—the car trouble was the low point.

Progress at home is steady and encouraging. I’ll share an office update soon once the painting is finished and we start arranging the room. I’m excited to show the new look—it’s coming together nicely.

Hope your weekend is going well, and that any car repairs are few and far between!
