We’ve been busy around the house this summer with several small projects in progress. Like many families, we balanced relaxation and a family vacation with tackling updates that make daily life nicer. It’s been rewarding to make progress so we can enjoy our home more this fall, although we’re still waiting to start our kitchen renovation.

We’ve been repainting rooms throughout the interior, and fresh paint really refreshes the house. I’ll share more photos of my son’s room when it’s finished, but I loved seeing the new color go up. The walls have a heavy textured plaster, which made me a little nervous about how paint would look, but the finish turned out great and the shade is exactly what we wanted. We selected Night Sky Grey by Glidden.
In our previous home we used Glidden Duo paint and primer, and the formula has now been updated to a new product called Diamond. Glidden Diamond is an acrylic paint-and-primer in one that’s budget-friendly and easy to apply. It often covers well in a single coat, though we usually go for two for the best, most durable finish. The product is low-odor and no-VOC, which is especially helpful when painting occupied rooms.
Diamond performs well in high-traffic and active spaces—kids’ rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms—because it can be washed and even gently scrubbed without losing its finish. That durability makes it a practical choice for family areas that need to stand up to everyday life.
