White Christmas and Winter Wonderland Decoration Ideas

Our family Christmas didn’t go exactly as we hoped, but we received an unexpected gift: a true white Christmas. Snow is uncommon in the Pacific Northwest, and seeing it fall on Christmas Day felt especially magical. Even more surprising, it didn’t disappear within hours like most NW snowfall tends to do.

We’ve been savoring this winter scene by staying cozy indoors—lounging by the fire, wrapped in blankets and sipping hot drinks. With temperatures at 12 degrees this morning, we’re grateful for our warm home and the chance to relax and enjoy the snowy view from the windows. It’s been the perfect excuse for quiet, comfortable togetherness.

Due to predicted storms across the region and other safety concerns, our children and extended family chose not to travel here for the holiday. We missed having them with us, but it was the responsible choice to keep everyone safe. We know many people faced much harder circumstances this season, so we are thankful our family remained healthy.

Even without a large in-person gathering, the combination of fresh snow, the warmth of our new home, and a cheerful Zoom celebration made the day feel memorable.
