Warm Coastal Dream Home: Cozy Seaside Design Inspiration

Beautiful Kitchen - JS Interiors Kitchen Trent Bell photography

I was sitting by the fire last evening, pretending I had nothing to do — you know that feeling when you’re swamped but try to take a mental break by convincing yourself you’re free? I really needed to finish some work, yet somehow I ended up on Pinterest. Sometimes that can be part of the job, but last night it was pure procrastination. Or so I thought.

JS Interiors - Kitchen with Teal Subway Tile

That’s when I discovered a lovely waterfront home featured by House of Turquoise, designed by Justene Spaulding of JS Interiors and photographed by Trent Bell. There are countless houses on Pinterest, but every so often one stands out — something about its design that makes you pause and look again. This house was one of those rare finds.

JS Interiors Living Room

The design is tasteful, blending rustic, traditional, coastal and cottage elements. I especially love the kitchen and living room palette — even the ceiling plays along. Watercolor shades of teal and green combine with varied wood tones, crisp white trim, and warm gold fixtures to create a look that feels fresh yet inviting. It’s a balance of light and warmth that I find particularly appealing.

I adore that rug and the barley-twist legs on the charming bench — small details that make the room feel collected and cozy.

Cottage Bathroom - JS Interiors

The bathroom is another highlight: attractive cabinetry, thoughtful lighting, classic wall and woodwork treatment, and a tub that invites long, leisurely soaks. It’s a simple but impactful combination of functionality and style.

Planked Hallway JS Interiors

Of course I’m a fan of the planked walls — I’ve said before that my house will be covered in planking someday, or at least most of it. The planked hallway here adds texture and warmth while keeping the aesthetic clean and coastal.

The floors show beautiful texture and character as well. Layering materials like these brings depth to the spaces and makes them feel lived-in and welcoming.

Working in a field you love has its hazards—you can’t help but get pulled into inspiration hunting even when you mean to be productive. I tried to avoid work, but a quick scroll turned into a small design daydream. If you enjoy seeing the homes and rooms I pin, you can find my Pinterest boards on my profile.

Happy Monday, fellow home lovers. Do you ever find yourself daydreaming on Pinterest instead of working?
