Every autumn I love layering textures and textiles as the air turns crisp. Adding layers brings warmth and visual interest to a room, and one of my favorite easy touches is a Turkish towel. Traditionally hand-woven for Turkish baths, these thin, durable towels work beautifully in decor even if you don’t use them for bathing.
Turkish towels are perfect for layering on sofas, chairs, ottomans and tables. Because they lie flat and don’t take up much space, they’re an ideal way to introduce softness, color and pattern without overwhelming a space. I found several of mine at a local flea market, the same place I found a rattan bookshelf I love.
I also keep a towel in the kitchen with the same look and feel as a traditional Turkish towel. It’s a versatile piece that brightens the room and adds practical softness to counter or table surfaces.
