One of the things I’ve learned as a homemaker is that small, consistent efforts add up to the bigger changes we dream of for our homes and families. Finding joy and contentment with what we already have—right where we are—is often all we need.
For readers who are new here, I wrote a book called Love The Home You Have, released in March 2015. The book explores how to cultivate contentment at home through simple, everyday practices that shift our perspective and help us appreciate the life and space we already own.
It’s how you look at what you have and what you do with it every single day that changes everything.
At the back of Love The Home You Have is a 31 Day Love Your Home Challenge featuring 31 small projects, inspiring tasks, and focused cleaning sessions designed to make refreshing your space feel achievable and joyful. These short activities aren’t just about decorating—they’re about bringing intention and happiness to daily life.
Home-making often looks effortless and beautiful on social media, but real life shows a fuller, messier picture. Spring’s arrival inspires us to refresh our homes and spirits, and a few simple steps can make a big difference.
To encourage one another, I’ll be hosting two spring challenges here at The Inspired Room that I hope will help bring a renewed springtime energy into our homes.

First: will you join the 31 Day Love Your Home Challenge starting this week?
Each Sunday I’ll post the week’s challenges here on the blog, drawing from the 31 activities at the back of the book. If you have the book, it’s a helpful companion, but you can follow along without it. Even if you’ve tried some of these activities before, repeating them or raising the bar on a task can bring fresh results.
Each Sunday, check the blog for a simple list of seven ways to love your home in the coming days, along with a bit of encouragement to keep you going. Do what you can—complete one, a few, or all seven. It’s up to you.
I’ll also share the daily challenge on Instagram if you follow @theinspiredroom.
If you want extra motivation or enjoy sharing with others, post your progress on your blog, Home Love Stories (no blog required), or Instagram. Use the hashtag #loveyourhomechallenge so I can find your posts. Whether you share or keep your journey private, I hope you’ll join in and tell me how it goes.
To keep our momentum, later in April I’ll introduce a new challenge so we can continue showing love to the homes we have. I’m excited to keep going together—it will be fun and uplifting.
