Are you ready to bring a touch of autumn into your home? I don’t rely heavily on seasonal decor, but foliage always finds a place in my rooms. A few stems on the dining table, an entry console, a mantel, nightstand or kitchen counter can create an instant fall focal point.
If you enjoy foraging, fresh finds are lovely, but faux foliage is a practical and beautiful alternative. Faux stems are ideal if you have allergies, limited outdoor options, or simply want something long-lasting. Quality faux pieces can outlast store-bought flowers by years, and a few stems are easy to store between seasons.
Below I’ve gathered some of my favorite faux and preserved foliage options, plus a few iron stems that add a unique, enduring element. I also share tips for arranging them so they look natural and interesting.

Tips for Styling Faux Foliage
- Combine real and faux. A few real stems mixed with high-quality faux makes arrangements look believable and gives you flexibility.
- Mix and match different stems. Choose a handful of seasonal statement pieces to layer with year-round branches for varied shapes and colors without storing a lot of extras.
- Soften the look by bending stems and leaves. Gently curve branches to create a relaxed, organic silhouette.
- Vary stem heights in your vase. This adds depth and creates a more dynamic composition.
- Keep arrangements airy. Leaving negative space gives a simple, elegant appearance.
- Make a bold statement by using a single type of foliage. A repeated shape or color can be striking.
- Choose distinctive containers. Unusual vessels instantly elevate even modest stems.
- Add texture at the base of clear vases with rocks or beads to enhance visual interest.
- Fill a glass vase with a little water if you want faux stems to read as more realistic.
