Striped Bedroom Tour: Christmas Decorating Ideas and Inspiration

Hello friends and Merry Christmas week!

With our family arriving tomorrow, I wanted to share a quick peek at our refreshed bedroom. I’ll share more details and photos after the holidays, but I couldn’t resist showing a few shots while the room feels extra cozy.

A few months ago we debated repainting and whether to add stripes. After lots of back-and-forth, we chose a direction and dove in—no looking back.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been painting stripes—one of our signature looks in several homes—swapping furniture between rooms and hanging new curtains. The result feels fresh and familiar at the same time.

In the evenings the lamp and window candles make the room feel so warm and inviting. During the day the lighter palette brightens the space and lifts the mood—just what we hoped for.

The color story matches our lower level but is used differently here to give the bedroom its own personality. The main changes are the paint—using the same colors we used downstairs—and a couple of framed prints. That small update was all it took for the room to feel like home.

We used Classic Light Buff and a soft Misty Air tone to create the stripes and contrasts that bring warmth and interest without overwhelming the space. A few accessories tie it together and keep the look calm and cohesive.

There are still small tweaks on the list and a couple of furniture pieces to refinish after the holidays, but this room already ranks among my favorites. It feels lived-in, comfortable and composed.

If you want to tackle a decorating project this winter or learn alongside me, consider joining my Wintering for HomeBodies virtual retreat. It’s a five-week workshop about decorating and creating a calm, cozy, collected home—perfect for starting the new year with intention.

Like many of you, I should have been wrapping gifts and prepping food this weekend, but I got sidetracked rearranging furniture instead. No regrets—moving the rattan shelf in here made such a difference. It’s the same flea market piece I’ve used in several homes and it adds just the right amount of texture.

I’ll share more about the paint choices, styling decisions and next steps after the holidays. For now, since the garland is up and the room feels especially cozy, here’s a little sneak peek for anyone still popping in to see holiday updates. Scroll through the photos for more views and I’ll post the full room reveal in the new year.

More soon.

And if you’d like, join me after New Year’s to help make our homes—and ourselves—calm, cozy and collected. January is a great month to refresh and simplify.

Next up: my Christmas tour.
