After a week of back-to-back snowstorms here in Seattle, I’m more than ready for spring. Don’t get me wrong — I love being cozy at home, and we rarely see snow like this. Still, the wintry weather gave me the perfect excuse to do some spring nesting and refresh a few rooms.

Although I’m enjoying the hygge vibe, I’m excited for brighter days. Today I’m sharing three simple, fast spring refreshes I completed this week around my home — small projects that make a big difference to how a space feels.

These are the kind of updates you can get done quickly so you can actually enjoy them. Here are the three rooms I refreshed this week.

Lamp / Lamp Shade / Wood Footed Tray / Faux Peonies / Faux Fern

After a long winter I start feeling restless looking at the same things every day. A small change can be a real mood booster, so I focused on quick edits that would lift my spirits without a lot of effort.

Green Dragonfly Bowls

Some people might head to a beach for a change of scene — that sounds lovely — but for me, a quick at-home project does the trick. I decided to refresh a small hallway space that had been neglected all winter.

This wall had two nails in it and nothing else for months. Each time I passed it I thought, “I should do something about that wall.” Eventually I stopped talking and started acting.

I grabbed a framed painting from another room and hung it on one of the nails. On the other nail I placed a metal candle holder with a battery-operated votive I’d picked up at World Market. It was an unexpected spot, but it passed the “spark joy” test immediately.

Next I wanted some greenery. A real plant didn’t thrive here because the hall gets little light, so faux was the sensible choice. I used a galvanized plant stand and a faux fern from World Market — the stand is compact enough to tuck in tight spaces and instantly made the area feel more alive.

Two minutes later, the spring hall refresh was complete. A few simple pieces — art, a candle holder, and greenery — transformed an overlooked corner into a welcoming spot.

Garden Sign

Feeling motivated, I moved outside to refresh a tiny outdoor area near my side yard. It took just a couple of minutes — mostly because I had to tromp through snow to get there — but hanging a simple garden sign instantly brightened the space and my mood.

I didn’t have roses blooming yet, but I did bring out a faux succulent and a bright bouquet of faux peonies. Peonies are an instant pick-me-up, and while real peonies don’t last long, faux blooms provide a long-lasting burst of color at this time of year.

A pop of pink flowers and a cheerful sign made the outdoor corner feel welcoming, even in the snow. Small seasonal touches like these can help you connect with spring before the garden is fully awake.

If you want even more feel-good decor, try creating a miniature garden. Tiny accessories and small vessels make delightful tabletop gardens and are a fun weekend project that feels almost like therapy.

My three mood-boosting spring refreshes are complete: a refreshed hallway, a brightened outdoor corner, and a small tabletop garden idea. Each update was quick, affordable, and lifted the spirit of the spaces they touched.
