Spring Indoor Planters: Stylish Pots for Blooming Houseplants

In a recent post I shared a favorite spring planter I’m using in my kitchen. Several readers asked for similar planters at different price points, so I gathered a selection of options below. They weren’t all easy to find, but I’ll update if I come across more choices.

These planters and baskets are great for displaying a mix of spring flowers or small houseplants and can look lovely year-round. Some items listed aren’t traditional planters, but any decorative basket can work as a planter cover—just lift the plant out when you water it. A few of the picks are stoneware pieces I own and recommend for their charm and durability.

If the basket you choose is shallow, it can still be effective if the plants sit in attractive pots. Another simple option is to tuck plants into decorative moss to create a finished look.

The trick to the full look of my kitchen planter is using plants with thick, lush foliage so the pots are hidden. I have four small plants in mine, each set on a saucer to catch any drips.

Scroll down to see the options I found. Enjoy!

FLODBJÖRK from IKEA is an affordable option at $19.99. It’s made with durable plastic rattan and handwoven by artisans, so each box has its own unique character.

Rattan Planter Trough

One rattan trough I found is expected to be restocked in mid-May 2025. Keep an eye out for availability; I’ll share updates when I see them on social channels and in my newsletter.

If you like my exact planter style, there’s a similar round version from the same brand that’s slightly smaller and more budget-friendly.

A hobnail planter I received as a gift fits perfectly in a small entry window and brings me joy every time I pass by. Small planters like that are an easy way to add personality to tight spots.

Tips for using baskets as planters:

  • Place potted plants inside the basket and remove them for watering to protect the basket material.
  • Use saucers under pots to catch drips, or line the basket with a waterproof tray if you prefer to water in place.
  • Choose plants with dense foliage to conceal pots and create a lush, finished appearance.
  • Add decorative moss or filler to tidy gaps and support shallow arrangements.
