“If winter starts to feel dreary, it helps to remind ourselves that spring is on the way. Keep a pretty notebook where you can jot down all the lovely ideas that pop into your head during the day (or in the wee hours of the night). Whether the possibilities are destined for next season or next year, it is inspiring to keep track of what you love!” — an excerpt from the winter section of my book A Lovely Life
Although most of our time and creativity at the moment is focused on an interior remodel and an addition, I find it uplifting to start imagining spring gardens. The thought of flowers, butterflies and birds returning always brightens my mood.
I miss my old garden dearly and I’m saving up lots of planting ideas for when the construction is finished. This week I discovered some charming garden accents online that sparked ideas for a fresh mood board. A few of those pieces are gathered in my Amazon shop folder and inspired the images you see here.
Years ago we had a small wood bridge spanning a rock “river bed” in one backyard and it remains one of my favorite memories. Even though the yard was tiny, that little bridge added so much charm. My children still remember it fondly.
Our current backyard is small as well, but I’m wondering if a petite bridge could fit. Beyond the visual appeal, it would be a sweet way to bring back those family memories.
What are you most looking forward to this spring? Do you have a garden you tend or dream about?
