This post is sponsored by The Home Depot, but all opinions and stories are my own.
I believe everyone deserves a safe, comfortable home they love. For years, my family organized a monthly service day through our church to help neighbors improve their homes. We worked on new builds, completed small repairs, assisted families preparing to move, and took part in neighborhood cleanups so communities would feel cared for.

Much of our work focused on military families, who often face difficult transitions and long deployments. Helping to improve their homes was a meaningful way to say thank you for the sacrifices they make to keep our communities safe.
The Home Depot Foundation’s annual Celebration of Service campaign is one I truly appreciate. From September 1 through Veterans Day, Team Depot—the associate volunteers from The Home Depot—rallies to improve homes and lives for veterans nationwide. While Team Depot volunteers support communities year-round, this two-month campaign brings extra attention and resources to veteran-focused projects in every community where The Home Depot operates.

My family joins Team Depot in honoring veterans with our #ServiceSelfie. During the campaign, The Home Depot Foundation donates $1 for each #ServiceSelfie shared on Twitter and Instagram—up to $500,000 total—to five nonprofits that serve veterans: Meals on Wheels America, Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Team Rubicon, Student Veterans of America, and Volunteers of America.
You can participate by snapping a selfie—alone or with a group—while volunteering or supporting your community. Post the photo to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #ServiceSelfie. Engage with other participants by liking, commenting, and sharing their photos to help spread the word and boost donations. For more details about the campaign, visit the Home Depot Foundation’s giving page.
I’d love to see your #ServiceSelfie—tag me @theinspiredroom so I can celebrate your efforts with you!
