Seattle Garden Party Guide: Top Venues, Dates & Tips for 2026

Seattle Garden Party with Home Depot

Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting the Seattle Garden Party at The Home Depot. It was a wonderful day — my daughters Kylee and Courtney joined me as we met families and local readers, painted pots, planted herbs, and picked up gardening tips from Master Gardener Teena Spindler. We also enjoyed delicious recipes from Amy Pennington. Despite an early forecast of rain, the weather stayed beautiful and everyone had a great time.

We welcomed several hundred guests throughout the day, and each person left with a charming pot planted with basil, cilantro, or oregano. It was delightful to watch everyone personalize their pots using stencils and paint pens. We encouraged creativity for all ages — the activity was simple, fun, and perfect for both kids and adults. A few of the Sharpie-style paint pens we used are available in my online shop for anyone who wants to try this craft at home.

The theme for the event was #SpringMadeSimple, which I love. Gardening can feel intimidating, but small projects like planting herbs or decorating pots make it easy to start. I always feel proud when something I plant thrives, and I’m especially motivated to grow more of our own vegetables for better health. Events like this inspire you to try something new, and The Home Depot hosts many similar workshops throughout the year.

Teena Spindler, the master gardener who joined us, shares plenty of practical gardening tips on her blog.

Garden Tools from The Home Depot

The first 50 guests received a canvas bag full of quality gardening tools available at The Home Depot. If you’re getting started, a few well-made tools can make gardening more enjoyable — and motivate you to get outside and try new projects.

Attendees also received cards with gardening ideas and recipes from Amy Pennington. Her recipes are inspiring — I’m eager to try the meatballs she featured. Amy’s seasonal dishes and simple techniques made the tasting portion of the event a highlight.
