I love updating my home with the seasons. If you visit here often, you’ve probably noticed I don’t rely on heavy themed décor. Instead I favor a neutral foundation—paint colors, rugs, and key pieces—that lets simple accessories shift the mood from cozy autumn and winter to bright spring and summer. Keeping things mostly neutral and uncluttered makes seasonal changes feel effortless and intentional.
Usually I work with what I already own, adding seasonal greenery or small accents and rearranging items until the display feels right for the time of year. A few versatile pieces—cutting boards, a mug holder, trays, and small decorative objects—get restyled to create fresh looks without buying a lot of new things.
Here’s a look at my kitchen coffee station across several seasons. You’ll notice certain elements repeat in new arrangements while a few seasonal touches change, like different colored books, greenery, or small handmade accents. Reusing and restyling pieces keeps the space familiar yet refreshed.
I don’t feel the need to replace everything each year. For example, I often bring out a simple DIY peace banner for the holidays and display it in the same spot over multiple seasons—proof that one meaningful piece can work in several contexts.

I’ll share other corners of my home decorated for different seasons in upcoming posts. Courtney and I have also been working on something new and fun behind the scenes. If you read to the end of this post, you get a little sneak peek!
For some time I’ve run an online shop for The Inspired Room, and recently we’ve been improving its look and organization. As the shop of my favorite furniture, lighting, and décor grew, we decided to create smaller, themed shops to make browsing easier. These curated collections showcase pieces we love and should make it simpler to find inspiration and items that suit your home.
We’ve also begun assembling seasonal gift guides featuring some of my favorite finds. If you enjoy shopping from the comfort of home—perhaps in your pajamas and slippers—these guides are designed to make that easier and more enjoyable.
