Psssst… I did it.
I made a rustic birch bark monogram!
I mentioned before that I wanted to try making a monogram, and I finally gave it a go.
I’m really pleased with how adorable it turned out.
I cut the monogram myself from wood using a power tool I had never used before.
And I survived — no missing fingers, so I can keep blogging. High fives!
It isn’t perfect, but for my first attempt I’m feeling proud of the result.

My favorite part is that I covered it with real bark from fallen branches I collected on a fall walk.
I absolutely love the texture of the natural bark and the bits of moss — it gives the piece a warm, woodland feel.

This project has a rustic, woodland charm and is a fun DIY to make for seasonal decor or year-round display.

We recorded a short video and wrote step-by-step instructions to show how it all came together — the full tutorial is available on the original project post where we walk through cutting the letter, attaching the bark, and finishing the piece.

If you’d like hands-on experience, consider signing up for a Home Depot Do-It-Herself Workshop to make your own monogram wreath — they offer guided sessions that are beginner friendly and a good way to learn basic power tool skills.
I’m co-leading a workshop in Tacoma, Washington this Thursday and would love to meet locals who want to try this project.

So, did I really do this? Yes — and it was worth the effort.
