One project on our “someday” list is to hire an electrician to add wall sconces throughout the house and, eventually, to move our doorbell. For now, we’ve used a temporary solution for sconces with battery-operated bulbs and have been considering ways to improve the look of our doorbell until we can rewire or relocate it.
Rather than leaving the plain plastic cover as-is or simply painting it to match the wall, I wanted something that felt intentional and finished. Alternatively, small pieces of wall art, a decorative basket, or a strategically placed accessory can hide or divert attention from the doorbell. Picking a small detail like this that complements your entryway finishes a space and increases the overall sense of cohesion.
When choosing a cover, consider the finish and scale relative to your door trim and entry wall. A small metallic or textured plate can read like a purposeful detail, while something too ornate might compete with nearby elements. Think about color coordination and balance: if your entryway is neutral, a subtle metallic tone can add warmth; if you have patterned textiles nearby, a simpler cover may work best.
