Recent Trends: What’s New and Noteworthy Now

The Inspired Room - Fiddle Leaf Fig copy

Hello! I hope you had a great week. Ours was busy and a little chaotic, but it’s Friday, so I’m breathing a sigh of relief. Here’s a brief update on what’s been happening around the house lately.

My plants are thriving in the new living room. The fiddle leaf fig surprised me by producing three tiny new leaves — a first I had to document. It’s still very much alive, and I’m thrilled to see it doing so well.

The Inspired Room - Plant Stands

The “Stress-Away” essential oil in the diffuser has been my go-to for a little calm while several rooms and the side yard remain mid-project. Between home updates and work responsibilities, it’s been a lot to juggle. Deep breaths — everything will get done and it will be worth it.

Lily the Labradoodle - The Inspired Room blog

Lily, our Labradoodle, doesn’t seem bothered by the disorder. She can make a bed out of anything — painter’s tarps, a box of blinds — and she’s adorable even when she gives me the stink-eye, probably wondering if she’s about to be told to move.

We painted lots of tester swatches on the walls in every room, which is always a little unsettling visually, but the color choices are finally settled. New artwork we love is ready and waiting to be hung once the painters arrive. We decided to hire a painter to finish several rooms so the work will actually get done — scheduling them took some time, but they’re set to start later next week.

Barnlight Electric Semi Flushmount

Some new lighting from Barnlight Electric arrived, and I can’t wait to see the fixtures installed in the front hall. I love the subtle black rim detail — it feels like the start of a farmhouse-meets-coastal vibe that will influence the rest of the house.

I moved my office downstairs and already feel confident it will be the perfect space. We’ll have a contractor make it an official room, so I’ll share an update once that project progresses.

Today is the last day of school for my son, Luke, and we’re excited to begin summer vacation. I can’t believe he finished his freshman year of high school — time really does fly. I’ll be savoring our summer together.

It’s almost my ninth blog anniversary, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has followed along over the years, and to those who recently joined. I’ll share a special anniversary post soon with lots of house projects and updates planned for the coming weeks and months.

Happy weekend, friends! See you next week for more kitchen inspiration and the latest progress on our house projects.
