YYou have all been so supportive. I mentioned my mountain of painting projects and many of you responded with sympathy — and surprise — that you, too, have a stack of unfinished tasks. That sparked an idea: I don’t need in-person helpers in Washington to get started. I have you, my online friends, who can be my painting buddies no matter where you are.
What was I thinking? Did I say I didn’t have any friends yet in Washington to help with my projects? I HAVE YOU! My friends on the other side of the screen. You’ll be my painting buddies and moral support as I tackle these projects.
Won’t you be my painting buddy?
I’m giving myself one week from today before I begin in earnest, since I still need to load the final moving truck to Washington. It’s hectic — we even have to make one more trip back to Portland for things we forgot. But I’ll start soon, and I want you to join me.
PROJECT PROCRASTINATORS PARTY
APRIL 30 – May 14
I’m inviting everyone to share in the process — not misery, but the satisfaction of progress. If you’re procrastinating on a project, join me. On April 30 I’ll post a way for us to declare our Procrastination Projects publicly, and on May 14 we’ll check back in to show progress. Even small steps count, and two weeks of focus will move projects forward.
Even if a project isn’t finished, being farther along than before is a win.
BABY STEPS
This is a big commitment for me right now, and many of you may be equally busy. As a friend from Portland advises: do a little bit at a time and it will get done. Break projects into baby steps — buy paint, clean and prep a chair, remove seats — and make steady progress. You don’t have to finish everything in one go; small actions add up.
APRIL 30, READY SET GO!
On April 30, be ready to announce your Procrastination Project. If you don’t have one, you can help me with mine. Come back next Thursday with before photos and your plan of attack — or a plate of cookies. You don’t need a blog to participate; everyone is welcome.
NEED HELP OR ADVICE?
If you have questions about your projects, include them in your post next Thursday or leave them in the comments on that day. Other painting enthusiasts will likely offer tips and encouragement so you don’t get stuck on what to do next.
Go forth and plan your project — we can do them together.
Yes, I’m calling out several of you by name as encouragement. And everyone else, I see you too — don’t slip out the back door. Bring your projects, your questions, and your determination. Let’s make progress together over these two weeks.
