Dash & Albert Catamaran Striped Runner
I’ve always loved striped rugs in kitchens. When Wayfair offered the chance to try a new rug, I chose a Dash & Albert runner for in front of my sink. Runners are perfect for adding warmth and visual interest, and they layer beautifully over harder flooring.
No need to worry about spills — this is an indoor/outdoor rug, so it’s more durable and easier to clean than many indoor-only rugs. Because it’s lightweight, you can roll it up and move it out of the way when you’re tackling something particularly messy, like a sauce-splattering project.
The runner had been rolled up during remodeling, so please excuse that it was laid down quickly without a rug pad or any styling (and let’s pretend there’s no painter’s tape or dust on the cabinets). I’m holding off on using it fully until the kitchen is painted, since rugs feel like a finishing touch to me.

I actually ordered two identical runners. That way I won’t panic if someone spills right before guests arrive — I can whisk one outside to hose clean while quickly replacing it with the spare. Originally I planned to use both runners at once in the kitchen and hallway, but until the painting is finished I’m not certain of their final placement.
Some good news on the kitchen remodel: I think I’ve found my cabinet painter. A local reader recommended someone—thank you, Barbara! If everything goes as planned, the cabinets should be painted next week. It’s felt like the longest remodel ever, and I’m eager to have this phase wrapped up even if it delays holiday decorating a bit.
We already have beautiful new cabinet hardware waiting to be installed. I’ve marked the doors that need holes filled for the new hardware (hence the painter’s tape) so I can review the work with the painter.
I’m also planning a small DIY on a few of the new pulls using a Dremel tool I recently picked up. I’ll share that project when I show the hardware in a future update.
I can’t wait to see the cabinets painted — we’re finally on the homestretch.
Cheers to everyone tackling last-minute home projects before the holidays. There’s still time to get things done!
Thanks to Wayfair for providing the Dash & Albert striped runners.
