We’re about to become empty nesters—for real this time—after more than 30 years of raising our wonderful children. One era is ending, and another, full of new possibilities, is just beginning.
Last week my husband and I made a major life decision that will dramatically shape our family and our empty nester years. We’re thrilled—really thrilled! I keep pinching myself. It might seem unexpected, but this is something we’ve prayed about and waited a long time to see come together.
It truly feels like a dream come true in many ways.
Until this past week the exact what, how, when—or even if—wasn’t clear. Finally getting answers feels incredible. We can now see what our dream actually looks like, and it’s even better than I imagined. I’m deeply grateful.
There is a bittersweet element: this choice closes the door on other possibilities, at least for now. Change often brings trade-offs. Still, knowing we’re on the path meant for us and seeing pieces fall into place has brought peace. It’s mostly sweet, not too bitter.
We have unexpected plot twists happening—some things aren’t finalized yet—but we’ll navigate this new season with trust and care. This chapter is going to be really good.
I didn’t mean for this to be such a cliff-hanger, but there’s a lot to share. I’ll reveal more details in the coming days and weeks as the remaining pieces fall into place.
For now, I can say this:
This dream will be a joy to share with you. Thank you to everyone who has followed our family over the years—your prayers and support mean so much. One season is ending, and I’m eager to begin what may be the most exciting chapter yet.
