Merry Christmas 2022: Warm Wishes From Our Home to Yours

Hello, friend! From our home to yours, I want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a healthy, joyful holiday season. I’m inviting you in to share a few snapshots from around our house during this special time.

This year we kept our holiday decorating simple—just enough for our family to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed. I usually prefer a more understated approach, though I might be inspired to add more next year.

I’m curious to see what the new year brings. Lately I’ve been busy planning several home remodel projects and collaborating with my daughters on some big, exciting things for The Inspired Room. We’ll begin sharing those updates in early 2023 and can’t wait to show you what’s coming.

We decorated early this year so we’d be ready to host family at Thanksgiving. I’m glad we did—the house felt festive for their visit. Last year a snowstorm kept them away at Christmas, so it was especially nice to enjoy the season together this time.

Keeping the decor simple allowed us to enjoy it without feeling pressured to do more. Even with a busy schedule, the house has felt peaceful over the past few weeks.

Celebrating early with family may become our new tradition. The Northwest surprised us with a foot of snow this year—what used to feel rare now seems more likely during the season. The weather shifted our plans this week, and I hope everyone across the country is staying safe and warm.

The dogs have loved the snow, and we’ve enjoyed watching them from the window. Fortunately, temperatures look like they’ll warm up in time for Christmas, so we may still squeeze in a holiday gathering with our kids. It might be late, but we’ll take it.

I do miss some of our original family holiday traditions, but I’m also learning to embrace this new chapter as empty nesters. Once our remodels are finished, we’ll feel even more settled and will create new traditions that feel just as special.

We plan to take a few days away from work, social media, and blogging to celebrate and focus on the reason for the season. I’ve scheduled a couple of posts to run over Christmas and right after, so if you need some inspiration you can stop by the blog. We’ll also send an email after Christmas for anyone on the list.

I have so much to share after Christmas. I’ll look back on the year and then we’ll turn our gaze forward—there’s a lot to reveal about our addition, new kitchen, and other remodeling plans around the house. Plus, the new community and resources my daughters and I have been working on will have a preview soon, and you can sign up for updates as we finalize things.
