Meet Lily: Inside the Life of a Dog Rescue Volunteer

australian labradoodle

I couldn’t resist this face.

The first time I saw her, just a week ago, I knew her name was Lily. It fit her perfectly.

I told my husband I had to have her.

I knew Jack would adore her, so we brought her home to join our family.

Already we can’t imagine life without her—she belongs here.

Her expression is the sweetest I’ve ever seen.

She’s an Australian Labradoodle. Jack is a Goldendoodle.

Lily came from a loving home with lots of siblings and cousins. Before we even met her, her owner prayed that Lily’s new family would be a blessing to her and that Lily would be a blessing in return. That thought went straight to our hearts. She already is a blessing.

Her little human brother fell in love with her just like the rest of us.

She plays hard and naps hard—exactly as puppies should.

Jack and Lily meet

Jack was intrigued from the very first moment he saw her.

But Lily adored Jack even more. Her sisters are absolutely smitten with her!

She doesn’t care where she naps so long as she’s with us.

big and little

Jack weighs about 45 pounds and Lily will likely grow to around 25 pounds, but for now she’s just a tiny bundle of energy.

They already play beautifully together. Lily has quickly established herself as the little alpha—she calls the shots, but in the sweetest way. She’s confident and clear about what she wants, and Jack seems to find her antics amusing rather than threatening.

He’s a good sport and a patient companion.

See what I mean?

Lily wants to do everything Jack does and loves all of his favorite spots around the house. Their close bond promises plenty of playful mischief ahead. They make a delightfully funny pair.

She truly is a precious little girl. I’m excited to share her adventures and sweet photos—just like Jack’s, they bring so much joy. You’ll enjoy following their antics and tender moments.
