Meet Beatrix: Our Kitchen Reveal Featuring the Blue Ilve Range

Sources: Range // Brass Feet on Range // Kitchen Hardware

Our new blue Ilve range—affectionately named Beatrix—has finally taken her place in the kitchen. We still have trim touch-ups, caulking around the marble, and a final cleaning and styling to do, but I couldn’t wait to share her with you before the full kitchen reveal.

A funny moment: when the contractor unboxed Beatrix in the garage and rolled her in, I discovered she had brass feet. I hadn’t ordered them and wasn’t expecting that flourish, but it suits her perfectly. Her unexpected “heels” felt so regal that we adjusted our baseboard plan slightly so those brass feet would be visible.

If you’re curious how she got her name, I shared the story in a previous post about adding character during our remodel. In short, Beatrix felt like the perfect name for a range with personality.

Beatrix is an Ilve Nostalgie 30-inch dual-fuel range in blue-gray. I ordered directly from a local appliance store that had the color and size in stock to avoid potential supply delays. With the supply challenges we’ve seen recently, I preferred securing the exact model rather than risking long waits.

Choosing a range involved a lot of research—size, finish, features, and reviews. I considered several options and price points, but kept returning to this model because it matched our style and needs. All that comparison felt worth it; now that she’s in place I’m confident we made the right choice.

We haven’t cooked a full meal on Beatrix yet, but we’ve tested the burners, oven, and controls and everything appears to work beautifully. I’ll report back after we’ve used her more and share impressions about performance and any tips we learn along the way.

Renovations demand an endless stream of decisions, and it can feel overwhelming. Still, seeing each element come together—pulled from careful choices and compromises—makes the process rewarding. Sometimes overthinking leads to good results.

I’ll explain the reasoning behind more of our choices in future posts. In the meantime, if you have questions about the range or the remodel so far, leave a comment and I’ll respond.

While we wait for final details to be completed, I’ve enjoyed collecting pretty pieces for the kitchen shelves and plate rack. It’s fun to imagine how everything will look once we style the space.
