Welcome to the Love Your Home Challenge — Spring 2016 edition. I’m so glad you’re here and ready to spend the next 31 days focusing on small, meaningful improvements to your home. Let’s count today as day one. These bite-sized tasks are meant to help you transform small areas, cultivate gratitude for what you already own, and reconnect with the comfort and joy your home can bring.
Each Sunday I’ll post a weekly list of challenges on the blog, one to complete each day. I’ll also share the daily prompt on Instagram (@theinspiredroom) so you can follow along visually and share your progress. If you post on social media, use the hashtag #loveyourhomechallenge so others can find and encourage you. If you don’t use Instagram, consider sharing on the Home Love Stories community blog — it’s free to join and you don’t need your own blog — or simply leave a comment here to tell us how it’s going.
I hope you’ll join in. Committing to small, consistent progress around the house is one of the easiest ways to make a noticeable difference in how your home looks and how you feel about it. Doing these tasks together adds motivation and inspiration — you’ll be surprised how satisfying little wins can be.
Below are the first seven daily challenges.

Day 1 – Home Gratitude: Start a simple gratitude journal specifically for the Love Your Home Challenge. Place it somewhere visible and add at least one note each day about something you appreciate in your home.
Day 2 – Declutter: Choose one drawer and declutter it completely. Empty everything out, keep only what you truly need, organize what remains, and enjoy the clear result.
Day 3 – Less Is More: Identify the surface in your home that attracts the most clutter. Clear it entirely, clean and polish the area, and enjoy the renewed calm. Share a before-and-after photo if you can.
Day 4 – Make It Pretty: Give the kitchen sink area a little extra attention. Clear any dishes, polish the sink and faucet, clean soap dispensers, wipe the counters, and add a fresh or clean dish towel to complete the look.
Day 5 – Delight Your Senses: Freshen your home by airing it out, washing sheets and towels, taking out trash, vacuuming rugs, and dusting surfaces. Finish the day with a scented candle or the smell of something baking.
Day 6 – Embrace Memories: Search for photos, ticket stubs, letters, and postcards you’ve tucked away. Arrange or contain these items in a meaningful way so they’re visible and bring pleasant memories to mind.
Day 7 – Your Sanctuary: Refresh your bedroom: make the bed, clear nightstands, and add a small change to brighten the space. You can bring in something new or simply rearrange items from elsewhere in the house.
Have fun this week and tell me how things are going!
