Do you see it? That little book on my shelf with my name on it? I WROTE A BOOK AND IT IS HERE IN MY OFFICE! It hasn’t been released yet—coming March 31—but I held it for the first time yesterday. It truly feels like welcoming a long-awaited baby into the world.
In January 2007 I launched The Inspired Room as a decorating business to help women create homes they love using what they already have. My passion wasn’t about following trends or decorating for show; it was about how a home feels. I wanted a sanctuary—somewhere that feels peaceful and comfortable. I believed a home should be lived in and loved, not just displayed.
I enjoyed improving my space, but I didn’t have a big budget or time for elaborate DIYs. Instead, I chose items that were meaningful and focused on simple, authentic beauty. That idea grew into a blog I started on a whim in July. The Inspired Room combined topics I felt were essential to finding contentment at home, and I’ve stayed true to that mission ever since.
I never imagined so many of you would follow along. Your responses—saying you felt encouraged, tried new things, or began seeing your home differently—meant the world to me. Blogging became less about perfect photos and more about sharing life, home projects, and honest moments over the years. Many of you have been here through moves, changes, and the slow process of turning a house into my home.

Two years ago your encouragement gave me the courage to collect those years of home stories, small ideas, and encouragement into a physical book. Love The Home You Have is the first of eight books and it grew out of nearly twenty years of homemaking, six houses, and many lessons from blogging. This book gathers the philosophy I’ve developed about appreciating and caring for the home you already have.

This book carries the message I’m most passionate about: learning to love and care for your home even when it’s not perfect. The ideas here are the reminders I use when I lose my way—simple, practical, and encouraging ways to make a home feel more like a sanctuary.
My next book, arriving this fall, will expand on this foundation. The Inspired Room will be a full-color coffee-table book that continues the themes of home and hospitality. I’m excited to share more about it soon.
Below are a few happy photos of us holding the book for the first time. My daughter Courtney helped tremendously throughout the writing process; her feedback and support were invaluable. We wanted this book to be something meaningful for others, especially for those starting their home journeys.

Until yesterday I had only seen the book in electronic form. Opening the package and holding the physical copy made it real. The book is a paperback of encouraging words, designed as a cheerful two-color edition with hand-drawn quotes and small illustrations. The soft, embossed cover and tactile details make it a book you’ll want to hold, keep on a bedside table, or gift to someone special.
It’s not just about the words; it’s about a touchable, comforting object that invites you to slow down and enjoy the act of homemaking. I can’t stop admiring it—its design and the care that went into it make it feel very special.
Okay, that may sound a bit quirky, but I adore this little book. It feels like a keepsake I want to tuck into a basket or set on the nightstand. The photos don’t fully capture it; you really have to hold it to appreciate the design and warmth the pages convey.

I’m deeply grateful for your support on this journey. I’ve created several more things I’ll reveal in the coming weeks, and I can’t wait to share them with you. This experience has been so much richer because you’ve been part of it.

Special note: Barnes & Noble offered a limited-time preorder deal on March 9 and 10 for 50% off the print version of Love The Home You Have. It was a rare, two-day opportunity—perfect for gifting or picking up a copy for yourself and a friend.

I’m so grateful to everyone who helped share this book. If you were able to mention it to friends, family, or on social media, that support was amazing. Soon I’ll share downloadable artwork and quotes from the book to help spread the word. Thank you for being part of this journey.
