Thank you for the enthusiastic response to my kitchen design board — sharing this project with you has been so enjoyable. I was beyond excited to see the cabinets and sink finally delivered. This is a quick progress update to let you know the cabinets are in place; the full reveal will come later once everything is complete.
For reference, the walls and ceiling will be finished in white wood. What you see here is still blue plaster on the walls and the unfinished wood ceiling.

We couldn’t resist a little silliness the moment the contractor left for the day. Courtney and I brought in dish towels and accessories, held up hardware and took photos because we could — it felt like a tiny celebration. The gray striped towels came from Trader Joe’s, and the buffalo-check towels were another find I love. The wooden measuring spoons are from Polder’s Old World Market.
Unfortunately, the sink arrived with cracked corners from shipping, so it wasn’t fully installed. The contractor still used the damaged sink to build the cabinet frame so we could see how it will look, then taped the cracks temporarily. We’ve ordered a replacement sink; in the meantime a template will be made for the countertops on Friday and the hardware will be fitted. The countertops are scheduled to be installed in about a week.

I’ve been so pleased with how everything has come together this week. I often worry a choice might not look as good in reality as it does in my head, but so far the room feels bright, practical, and exactly as I hoped — maybe even better. It’s a big relief to see it feeling right.
If you’ve remodeled or built a home, tell me you’ve styled your kitchen before it was finished too — I’m sure we’re not the only ones!
