Kitchen Remodel Ideas and Resources for Inspiration and Planning

The Inspired Room Kitchen Makeover Sources

Where did you find …. for your new kitchen?

Wondering where to begin with a kitchen design project? If you’re asking where to find items like hardware, lighting, cabinets, tile, sinks, faucets and accessories, this guide collects the sources used in my kitchen remodels. For a major renovation it’s wise to consider hiring a qualified kitchen designer to ensure the space is safe, up to code and functional. Remodeling can be expensive and stressful, and a professional helps avoid costly mistakes.

For both of my recent kitchen projects I handled the design myself because the major systems—appliances, electrical, plumbing and layout—remained largely the same. I worked with local contractors (a general contractor, plumber, electrician and painters) and both local and online suppliers to make improvements on a reasonable budget while keeping the finishes consistent with the style and quality of the house.

Avoid cheap, poor-quality DIY choices that lower your home’s value. Consider your budget and also how changes might affect resale value. Over-investing in a house you’ll sell soon is not always financially sensible. Each project requires a balance based on your unique situation.

My decisions may not be right for your house or budget, but I hope these resources offer ideas or a starting point for your project.

If you haven’t seen the full kitchen reveal, the original remodel post includes photos and details.

Below is a compiled list of the finishes, paint colors, hardware, lighting, appliances and accessories featured in my kitchen reveal. I assembled this to save time answering source questions and to provide a handy reference for anyone planning a similar update.

If you’d like to save any images for future reference, pin or favorite them from the kitchen reveal post.
