Inspired Room Art by Lindsay Letters — Hand-Lettered Wall Decor Ideas

Being that this blog is called The Inspired Room, I enjoy sharing how art, color and small details spark ideas for decorating. A while back Lindsay of Lindsay Letters gifted me a beautiful canvas that I fell in love with. The piece felt so right that I designed the guest room around it. That room is almost finished—slowly evolving as my house always does—but the artwork set the tone for the entire space.

The colors in this piece are fresh and cheerful. They remind me of childhood treats like sherbet—soft, bright and uplifting. The palette gave me a direction for fabrics, paint accents and accessories so the room would feel cohesive and welcoming.

I’ve shown part of the guest room before—mainly the wall with the bed and bookcases—because that side holds the most important elements. The other side is still a work in progress thanks to a small hiccup: we refinished a vintage armoire and haven’t quite managed to reattach the doors. It’s a minor DIY snag, but for now it keeps the space from being completely photo-ready.

Until that detail is resolved, I wanted to share the artwork that inspired the room. It hangs opposite the bed and brings a calm, radiant energy to the space. I’m also looking for a narrow bench to place beneath the canvas; the room is small so finding the right scale is important, but a simple bench would be a lovely finishing touch.

I’ve admired Lindsay’s work for a long time, so having one of her canvases in my home feels special. The piece brightens the room and makes it feel cozy and inviting—honestly, it tempts me to check in as a guest myself. The combination of soft hues and simple lettering adds personality without overwhelming the small space.

The room reads cheerful and peaceful; seeing the art each morning is a gentle reminder of creativity and comfort. If you’re decorating a small bedroom or guest room, choosing one meaningful artwork as a focal point can simplify decisions for color, textiles and accessories.

I was happy to discover that Lindsay also offers downloadable art—some pieces are free or available for a small fee—making it easy to add her prints to a space without a large investment. Small prints or downloadable files are a great option for renters or for refreshing a gallery wall on a budget.

Lindsay’s collection includes many thoughtful pieces that add color and meaning to a room. I especially love the little print with the nautical phrase—simple artwork like that can serve as a reminder or a theme that influences other styling choices in a space.
