Inspired Holidays Day 9: Treasures to Collect on Your Trip

Ralph Lauren

One of my most popular posts a few years ago was a short, simple list titled “20 Little Things to Treasure in Autumn.” It wasn’t dressed up with fancy graphics or elaborate crafts — just a plain, heartfelt list of small comforts and familiar pleasures. Despite its simplicity, it resonated widely and was shared on blogs and social feeds because it captured the little moments that make the season feel special.

That list found an audience beyond my own site and inspired readers to make their own lists of autumn treasures. The response reinforced something I’ve observed often: simple, genuine ideas can have the biggest emotional impact and remind us what truly matters.

If you haven’t seen the original post or would like to revisit it, my 2008 “20 Little Things to Treasure” list is still available to read. The images and memories it evokes make me want to curl up in a cozy bed with a good book — and that’s exactly the sort of feeling the season brings.

I return to that list every autumn. It helps me remember the sensory details I love most about the season so I don’t get distracted by less important worries. Smells, textures, and small rituals often create the clearest memories, so I try to include them when I make my autumn list.

Before autumn slips away and Thanksgiving becomes a memory, what are the things that mean the most to YOU this season?

I’ve made seasonal lists for every time of year, but autumn remains my favorite. Listening to the crunch of leaves, wrapping up in layered bedding, sharing warm drinks with friends, and slowing down to savor light and color — these are the sorts of moments I return to again and again.

What do you treasure most this season? Consider making your own list or leaving a few items in the comments — it’s a simple way to refocus on what matters most.

I hope this encourages you to notice and enjoy the small things that make autumn meaningful. Thanks for stopping by!
