Inspired Holidays Day 9: Holiday Treasures List to Keep Forever

Ralph Lauren

One of my most-loved posts from a few years back was a simple list titled “20 Little Things to Treasure in Autumn.” It wasn’t ornate or heavily produced—just a plain list of small moments and comforts I appreciate about the season. Despite its simplicity, that little list resonated with readers and spread across blogs and social media.

The post was picked up by sites like Apartment Therapy and inspired many people to make their own lists of autumn treasures. That reaction reminded me how often the simplest ideas—small, sincere observations—can have the biggest impact.

If you haven’t seen it recently, my original 2008 list is still available to read. The photos and short descriptions always make me want to crawl into a cozy bed with a good book and savor the slower, gentler pace autumn brings.

I return to that list every fall because it helps me remember the pleasures that matter most and keeps me from getting caught up in less important tasks. Including sensory details—smells, textures, sounds—helps anchor memories and brings the season to life in a deeper way.

Before autumn slips away and Thanksgiving becomes a memory, what do you value most about this season?

I make lists for every season, but autumn remains my favorite. The familiar rituals, the layered warmth in textiles, the taste of seasonal treats, and the soft light all feel like small treasures worth noticing.

What do you treasure most in autumn? Make a list for yourself or share a few items in the comments. It’s a simple and meaningful way to refocus on what truly matters.

I hope this inspires you to notice more of the season’s little gifts. Thanks for stopping by!
