Welcome to Kylee’s Seattle Townhouse tour!

Seattle Townhouse -- Small Entry Hallway

Hi friends! I’m back and excited to share an updated tour of our Seattle townhouse. Since I recently updated the living room and new sofa, I wanted to show how the rest of the house looks now and share a few plans I have for future tweaks and decorating projects.

I kept most spaces unstaged so you’re seeing the home as it really is—a work in progress. Over the next few days I’ll share some behind-the-scenes video and extra photos on my Instagram stories to give a better sense of the layout and a few areas I didn’t photograph for this post.

Our home is always evolving. We’ve mixed handed-down pieces with items we’ve collected over time, and I enjoy how the variety gives the rooms personality instead of feeling cookie-cutter. Blending old and new can be a challenge, but that’s part of the fun.

Stairway Gallery Wall - Seattle Townhouse

The entry hasn’t changed much since the last time I shared it, aside from a few stray coats and shoes now that my sister has moved out. My staircase gallery wall is mostly IKEA frames and could use an update. I plan to swap in a few thinner, sleeker frames and finally add some photos of our new pup, Leo, since the wall is still full of pictures of Bella. Classic second-child problem for Leo!

Townhouse Living Room

This corner with the bookshelf didn’t get much attention the last time I wrote about the living room. I’ve had that shelf since middle school and it’s been repainted several times. It’s getting a bit wobbly so a replacement is likely in the future. The shelf could use editing and styling, but I’m sentimental about books—I still love paper copies even though I work with e-readers.

Settle Townhouse Fireplace - Before + Painted Gold Ikea Shelf

This awkward angled wall near the fireplace is one of my least favorite corners because it makes furniture placement tricky. I borrowed a pair of my mom’s chairs for now and placed them facing the sofa; I like that they help draw attention away from the shiny black fireplace and TV. That dark area feels like a black hole, so I’m brainstorming creative ways to soften or disguise it while still keeping the TV usable.

The gold shelf is an IKEA hack—spray painted gold with marble contact paper applied to the shelves. It was an affordable way to lift the corner and add some visual interest.

Here’s the other side of the living room for context.

Our kitchen is functional and well-built, though the dark countertops and overall brown tones aren’t my favorite. Since we don’t plan to live here forever, we’re weighing whether cosmetic changes are worth the investment. The previous owners did replace the backsplash before selling, which was a nice update and improved the space a lot.

Townhouse Decorating - Kitchen Island

We don’t have room for a dining table, so my husband Lance and I often eat on the sofa. Lately we’ve made a habit of having meals at the kitchen island together, which somehow feels like a cozy, casual dining spot.

Coffee Station - Seattle Townhouse

This coffee cart photo was taken before my sister Courtney moved out and took her Nespresso machine. The cart looks much the same now, just without her machine. I might replace it because I miss the ease of single-button coffee in the mornings; there are organic and recyclable pod options if you’re looking for greener choices.

Townhouse Decorating - Master Bedroom Design

Our master bedroom is mid-transition. We recently upgraded to a king bed and mattress (organic latex—more on that later), which fills most of the room and leaves little space for nightstands. The navy nightstands went with my sister, so we’re using small temporary tables until our ordered nightstands arrive. A new ceiling light is waiting in a box to be installed—first time swapping a fixture for us, so tips are welcome!

Once the new nightstands arrive, we’ll replace the temporary lamps. I’m considering a blue lamp to echo the rug, or perhaps a task light. There’s a lot of gray happening, so painting is on my mind, even though I’d rather not tackle that project if I can avoid it.

Leo the Labradoodle - The Inspired Room

Leo is the boss of the house these days, which partly explains the king-sized bed upgrade.

Bella the Labradoodle - The Inspired Room

Bella is always on the lookout for the coziest, safest hideaway.

He also loves staring at himself in the mirror and enjoying the diffuser’s scent.

Here are a couple of snapshots of the guest bathroom. The shower curtain is a recent find and gives the small space some personality.

That’s the tour for now. I didn’t photograph the powder room, guest room, or my sister’s old room since those spaces are in transition after her move. I’ll share updates on those rooms when there’s more to show, and I’ll post extra glimpses on my Instagram stories soon.

Until next time!
