Today I’m excited to share a virtual tour of a brand-new modern coastal beach house. This custom home is full of thoughtful design and coastal charm, and I’m delighted to bring you inside for a close look at its beautiful details.
Although this isn’t my home, it feels familiar in many ways. Several features were inspired by ideas from The Inspired Room and even elements from my own kitchen. Seeing those concepts realized on a larger scale is such a thrill.
I’m grateful to the owner, Susan Heid, for letting me share these photos. The images were taken recently, and I’m pleased to present a full virtual tour. This is a private home and not open to the public, so please enjoy this virtual glimpse into Susan’s seaside retreat.

I followed this home from the foundation up, and Susan kindly kept me updated during the design and build. It took a couple of years to complete, but the results are worth the wait. The craftsmanship, finishes and thoughtful touches create a warm, inviting coastal atmosphere.

The kitchen shows many elements inspired by my own small remodel—scaled up and refined. White shiplap, shaker cabinets, and mixed hardware come together with warm wood accents to create a bright, classic coastal kitchen. The result is both elegant and approachable.

Small kitchens can inspire big ideas, and it’s fun to see similar touches here—right down to cabinet hardware, faucet and sink choices. When a concept translates well into a larger space it highlights the flexibility of good design decisions.

Susan’s kitchen is everything a small kitchen might aspire to be: generous counter space, a well-planned layout and beautiful finishes. Seeing similar elements in both homes underscores how timeless coastal design can be.

This home sits in Seabrook, Washington, a charming coastal town that’s been on my list for years. I hope to visit in person someday, and when I do I’ll get a closer look at the details that make this house so special.

Light and windows are abundant throughout the house, creating airy, comfortable rooms. Shiplap walls and painted trim enhance the coastal palette, while natural wood floors and exposed beams add warmth and texture.

The living areas feature a stone fireplace, built-ins, window seats and generous sightlines—elements that encourage gathering and relaxation. The balance of white finishes and wood tones keeps the spaces bright without feeling cold.

Hallways, stairways and transoms add architectural interest and a welcoming flow. I especially love the Dutch doors and the hardware details, which lend character throughout the home.

Some stairway inspiration was drawn from coastal farmhouse designs featured in earlier house tours.

Practical spaces like the laundry room include thoughtful built-ins and storage solutions. A blue cabinet color and butcher block counters add personality while staying on-theme with the coastal palette.

One standout is a turret room with a beautiful ceiling and abundant windows—an ideal spot for reading, watching the ocean or catching the morning light. The architecture here creates a tranquil, cozy niche.

Bathrooms are thoughtfully designed with a mix of tile, subway tile showers and custom vanities. Clean lines and natural materials keep each bath feeling fresh and beach-appropriate.

The home also includes family-friendly spaces like a bunk room with pull-out bunks—perfect for guests and kids. Functional choices like these make the house welcoming and practical for seaside living.

Exterior details are equally charming: shingles, lanterns, and a door color reminiscent of Wythe Blue give the house a classic seaside look. A welcoming porch and a curved entry canopy create a memorable first impression.

Outdoor living is a highlight: a double-sided exterior fireplace and an outdoor shower add both function and ambiance for beach life. These features make it easy to enjoy the fresh air and ocean views.

And of course the views are stunning—one of the best parts of a coastal home. Large windows and outdoor spaces capture the scenery and invite you to relax and enjoy the setting.
