Humble Silver Spoon Tree: Dining Room Decor Ideas and Styling Tips

Creative Christmas tree theme!

We chose not to have one large main tree this year. Instead of a grand, fragrant fresh-cut tree or an elaborate version of the usual centerpiece, we decided to keep things simple and use what we already had. This pared-down approach felt right for our family this season.

Rather than one big tree, we placed several smaller trees throughout the house — one in each main room.

I had hoped to have them all decorated by now since each one takes so little time, but things didn’t quite go as planned.

I’m actually glad they aren’t finished. I want my daughters to be here so we can decorate together. For me, Christmas isn’t about doing everything alone; it’s about family and shared traditions. Keeping things simple doesn’t mean giving up the rituals we love, so I’ve decorated only one tree so far. The others will get their turn in the coming week or two.

For a touch of quirky charm, I used my mother’s old silverware on the dining room tree.

The pieces are beautiful and full of character, so why not display them?

This little spoon is just one of the random pieces she collected, but I thought it was especially sweet.

I considered adding more decorations to make the tree fancier, but decided to keep it simple with just spoons and forks. Sometimes, knowing when to stop is the best choice.

Although the tree is decorated with sterling silver, it remains a simple, modest display.

Silver pieces tied with jute — nothing more elaborate.

Humble, understated, and not trying to draw too much attention to itself.

I like it that way.
