We’re a little embarrassed to reveal what we’re about to show you, but we’re only human. Like many of you, we juggle busy lives and sometimes projects slip to the bottom of the to‑do list. Our detached two‑car garage has suffered from exactly that—out of sight, out of mind. Since it’s separate from the house, we don’t have to look at it every day, and it’s slowly become the catchall it shouldn’t be.

We hesitated to display our messy secret publicly, but we figured a little public accountability will finally move this project off the “next weekend” list. So here’s the honest current state of our garage—no staging, no moving anything out of frame—just the real before.

Yes, it looks that bad. Boxes are stacked everywhere, yard tools mingle with random household items, and there’s barely room for one car, let alone two. We haven’t done a major cleanup since last summer’s first big overhaul, so it’s definitely overdue for a refresh.

We’re sharing these photos for two reasons. First, to motivate ourselves to tackle the mess and show the results. Second, to invite you to join us this weekend in giving a neglected area of your own home some attention. It might be a garage like ours, or a shed, attic, basement, closet, or even a chaotic junk drawer—any space that could use a little TLC. Take “before” photos, spend a few focused hours decluttering and organizing, and then capture the “after” shots to celebrate your progress.
This is a small, achievable project that pays big returns: clearer space, less stress, and the satisfaction of finishing something that’s been nagging at you. If you’re on social media, share your before and after photos so we can celebrate together. Snap the initial pictures before you start, and don’t forget the triumphant after photos once the job is done. We’ll be doing the same and can’t wait to share our progress next week.
Sound like a plan? Roll up your sleeves, set aside a few hours this weekend, and join us in reclaiming a neglected space. We’ll regroup next week to compare results, swap tips, and celebrate the transformations—big or small. We’re excited to see your afters, and honestly, we’re excited to see our own garage transformed into something functional and tidy again. Stay tuned for the reveal.
