How Jack Has Grown: A Heartfelt Milestone Story

Jack popped in to say hello and show how big he’s getting — he’s nearly 50 pounds now. He’s growing fast and already working hard on his manners and good puppy behavior.

He generally knows right from wrong, but he still gives in to temptation when everyday items call his name. His favorite mischief includes grabbing toilet paper, toothbrushes, socks, Winston’s food and water, napkins, remotes and game controllers, slippers, shoes, hats, and pens. Sharpies are especially irresistible — red ones top the list.

Mostly, Jack just wants to have fun — sometimes his family seems a bit boring to him. To keep us entertained, he’s been making hilarious sounds that almost sound like talking. We’re planning to capture those noises on video soon.

Jack likes to think he’s the alpha dog, the leader of the pack. I have to remind him occasionally that I’m the alpha mom, which he definitely does not enjoy hearing.

To help him learn the rules and understand his place in the family, Jack will start puppy school next month. It should be entertaining — the other pups, many of them around 14 pounds, will probably be surprised to meet him.

Before school starts, Jack wants his first “big boy” haircut. That’s the latest update from our playful pup — more to come after his grooming and a few puppy classes.

That’s all for now.
