To welcome the approaching summer, we refreshed our front door and porch. This time of year is ideal for improving curb appeal, and a few simple updates now mean we’ll be ready for fall decorating and the holiday season.
You might have caught the new door color on my Instagram stories. Here’s a progress photo to show how it’s coming along. The door isn’t finished yet and the trim still needs painting, but we’ve already made a noticeable change. There are more porch improvements on our list, but this update feels like a great first step.
The door color is Benjamin Moore’s “Blue Suede Shoes,” and our painted brick is Sherwin Williams’ “Reserved White.” I left this progress photo mostly unedited so you can see the true tone—its appearance shifts slightly throughout the day. Up close the color feels cheerful; from the street it reads a bit more subdued but still very pretty. It’s a fun choice. You can find more of our home paint colors on my site.
While the porch isn’t finished, I prefer sharing small, real improvements instead of only showcasing the final reveal. I’ll post an official before-and-after for the door in a few weeks, but for now I’m celebrating the progress we’ve made.
Do you ever feel that a project must be completed all at once before you start? If I waited for everything to be perfect, we’d never make progress. Painting the door is just one step toward better curb appeal, but we already love the mood it creates for our home. It’s inspiring new ideas for other updates I’ll share as we continue to work on the porch.
Now that the door has a fresh, pretty color, I’m hunting for a cheerful summer doormat and porch accessories to tie the look together. I’ll share a full post soon with porch ideas and favorites, but below are some summer doormats I found and like.
