As much as I always adore everything cozy and autumnal, I’m often drawn to a fresh, youthful, and cheerful aesthetic—especially in the summer. That lighter style just feels right in this house, where summer and fall blend beautifully in the Pacific Northwest.
The two seasons don’t need to be stylistic opposites; they can complement each other. Sometimes it’s hard to explain exactly what I mean, but the rooms in this home designed by Bria Hammel Interiors capture that balance perfectly.
Bria’s work is inspiring—her use of color and layered patterns creates a lively yet curated look. Each room feels intentional and joyful without feeling overdone.
Her portfolio is full of beautiful spaces, each with thoughtful details in both design and architecture that make the rooms feel special. You can see how small choices—texture, scale, and pattern—come together to form a cohesive whole.
I especially love how a strong dark accent—whether black or navy—can ground a bright palette and make a room feel more intimate. That contrast adds depth while preserving the cheerful mood.
The wallpaper in one room is delightful—its pattern instantly lifts the spirit and creates a space where you can’t help but smile. It’s a great example of how pattern can bring personality without overwhelming the design.
That Dutch door is charming, and the playful tile greeting on the floor makes the entry feel welcoming and memorable. Little touches like a tiny cubby by the door add function and character—simple features that make a house feel like a home.
Now that my exterior projects are mostly wrapped up for the year—aside from finishing a gate—I find myself turning my attention back to interiors. I’ll still be spending plenty of time outdoors on our deck and patio this summer, but I can’t help dreaming about refreshing indoor spaces too.
Ordering a new couch recently has already sparked a wave of ideas. When it arrives I expect to rearrange and refresh several areas, so I’ve been collecting inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram to make the most of the update.
I’m excited about the coming seasons and the chance to blend cozy fall elements with a bright, youthful summertime vibe. Who isn’t a little bit excited for fall?
