Disclaimer: Please excuse the glass being ridiculously dirty on this cabinet…
I promise I’ll clean the glass when the remodel is all done.
A little earlier this summer I took a fun trip to HomeGoods with some gift cards that were burning a hole in my pocket. That day I found an adorable little cabinet that I couldn’t resist bringing home.
I bought it without a clear plan for where it would go or what I would put inside. I was living life on the edge! Once I got it through the door it struck me as a bit reckless—my house was mid-remodel and everything was piled up for the upcoming kitchen and flooring update. With rooms torn up and boxes everywhere, I had to stash the cabinet in a corner. For a while it just sat there, empty and unused.
When the actual kitchen remodel began, I needed places to store everyday items, especially my white dishes. That’s when this little cabinet proved its worth. We filled it with bowls, mugs, plates and more. There was no styling required—just practical storage while work continued. It became an instant utility piece during a chaotic time.
White dishes always look pretty behind glass or on open shelving, even when they’re not perfectly arranged. They create a clean, timeless look that works in any setting. I wish I had cleaned the cabinet glass before taking the photo, but with dust and construction mess everywhere, it slipped my mind. You’ll forgive that, right? I’m counting down to the end of the remodel and my return to normal cleaning routines.
Seeing the dishes inside the cabinet made me fall in love with it all over again. It’s amazing how a small piece can brighten a room. Now that the remodel is nearing completion, I’m reluctant to empty the cabinet and put everything away. I’m considering keeping it in use for extra dishes or my collection of white pitchers.
Although it might look perfect in the kitchen, I don’t currently have a permanent spot there. I’m planning to try it in the dining room this week to see how it looks with the pitchers and other pieces. I’ll share an update if I decide to make it a permanent fixture.
Do you have a little cabinet in your house where you store extra dishes?
