Free Food Samples Taste Test: Which Ones Are Worth Trying?

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We love tackling home projects, but when it comes to cooking we’re always eager to learn more. That’s why we were excited when our giveaway sponsor, America’s Test Kitchen, sent us a copy of their latest cookbook and offered multiple prizes for our readers. When our preview copy of Cooking for Two arrived, we immediately began flipping through it, happy to find recipes and guidance tailored for two people.

As the resident home-cook enthusiast, I looked first for beginner-friendly recipes. Every recipe in the book is portioned for two—no mental math required—and each is accompanied by background information that explains ingredient choices, cooking temperatures, and prep techniques. Those notes are especially helpful for newcomers; I finally understood the easiest way to shred basil and why certain temperatures matter. That newfound confidence led me to try the Crunchy Baked Pork Chops with Aioli (page 79) over the weekend. I even made my own breadcrumbs—though I paired the dish with a simple side of frozen vegetables this time around.

And now a few readers had the chance to try the book too. America’s Test Kitchen offered five hardcover copies of Cooking for Two to five randomly selected readers. To enter the giveaway, readers were asked to comment on the post with the words “I WANT A TASTE” by the deadline and to share what makes up their all-time favorite meal—whether it’s the dish they’d choose for a last meal or what they’d want if stranded on a desert island.

We allowed one entry per email address. Winners were chosen at random and announced shortly after the entry period closed. Thanks to everyone who entered and shared their favorite meals—your responses ranged from comforting classics to creative pairings, and it was fun to read what people love to cook and eat.
