A home should be sacred space. It should be where you feel most comfortable, a shelter where you can rest, renew, and care for yourself and those you love.
Walking through your front door should bring a sense of welcome and calm. Creating a nurturing atmosphere means paying attention to the elements that help you feel your best: light, order, color, and the objects that bring you joy.

We are the stewards of our homes. In many ways, we choose what crosses our threshold and what remains outside.
This responsibility is powerful—and it’s a generous gift we can give ourselves and our families.
Care for our dwellings—both the house and the body—matters. While we can’t control everything that enters our lives, there are always small, practical steps we can take to improve how we feel at home. That is the heart of Dwelling: simple, intentional actions that make a meaningful difference.
Pssst… the big giveaway mentioned in the original launch has ended, but the spirit of sharing and connection continues.

A home is more than a structure that stores belongings or shields us from the weather. It is where daily life unfolds—conversations, celebrations, and memories. It is the backdrop for the moments we want to hold dear.
When we intentionally design a home to nurture and inspire, we create an atmosphere that supports the life we long to live.
Melissa Michaels, Dwelling (2019)
The decisions we make about our environments affect our health, mood, and relationships. Thoughtful choices at home ripple outward and can influence the broader world.
On Tuesday my new book, Dwelling, began arriving in homes across the country. I hope it finds a place in yours and serves as a gentle invitation to care for the life you live within your walls.
Book launches often feel vulnerable. Opening your home—and your heart—to others is an intimate act. I felt that vulnerability when sharing this work, and I hope readers find it welcoming rather than overwhelming.

Learning to tend to our dwellings—both the physical home and our bodies—is a personal journey. Your home will reflect your history, needs, and tastes; it won’t look exactly like mine, nor should it. I don’t claim to have every answer.
Still, I hope the ideas in this book spark small, practical changes that help you feel better at home. When we share our stories and encourage one another, we create stronger, kinder communities.
This is my deepest hope.

As Dwelling finds its way into more homes, I hope it opens conversations, builds connections, and encourages people to learn from one another. Sharing insights, successes, and even struggles helps us all grow.
Would you share your stories with fellow HomeBodies? I’d love to hear how this book touches your life.
If the book resonates, please consider recommending it to friends or leaving a review where you purchased it. Honest feedback helps others discover it, too.
There are images and quotes available that you can use for social sharing. When you post, consider tagging @theinspiredroom and using #dwellingbook and #feelwellwhereyoudwell so others can find your stories.
I welcome messages and conversations—connecting with readers is one of my favorite parts of this journey.
As we walk this path together, I hope we’ll become good friends and encourage one another to create homes that truly nurture.
If you haven’t ordered Dwelling yet, you can find a copy through your preferred bookseller.
DWELLING LAUNCH WEEK + GIVEAWAY: THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.

For the launch I invited several friends in the blog community to share their reflections on Dwelling. Their posts offered fresh perspectives and additional ways to enter the giveaway that accompanied the launch. While that giveaway is now closed, the conversations those posts generated remain valuable.
During launch week, contributors included The Inspired Room, Miss Mustard Seed, Clean Mama, Thistlewood Farms, and Reluctant Entertainer. Each shared thoughtful essays on how to feel well where you dwell.
The original giveaway prize included a curated collection of self-care items and a copy of Dwelling. Although the promotion has ended, the value of tending to your home and wellbeing continues without the need for incentives.
THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.
