The wedding is over and I’m finally back home. My daughter and I wanted a simple beach wedding, and in many ways that’s what we had. Still, even a “short” destination wedding—only about an hour and a half away—brings a few logistical details. The biggest was arranging accommodations for the wedding party. We were so fortunate that good friends let us use their lovely beach house in Gearhart, which gave several members of the wedding party a comfortable place to stay for the weekend.
We were so grateful that we spent the morning of the rehearsal frosting 200 cupcakes in their kitchen. We made quite a mess and it took a few hours to clean up afterward, but it was worth it.
While I was in Gearhart cleaning frosting off the cupboards the day after the wedding, I took a few photos around the neighborhood. I know many of you love drive-by tours, and I couldn’t resist sharing these charming coastal homes. Each time I raised my camera I thought of you and knew you’d enjoy seeing the houses, so here’s a quick Drive By in Gearhart, Oregon—just for you.
One note: I didn’t get as many close-up shots as I normally would because I was in a lot of pain the day after the wedding. I’d worn high-heeled red patent leather shoes for the ceremony and spent the day running up and down stairs. I pulled some thigh muscles I didn’t know I had—OW! Still, those shoes looked great, and it’s a reminder that my over-40 legs might appreciate more sensible footwear next time. For the next dress-up event, grandma-style loafers may be in my future.
Enjoy the tour…
