Day 8 of 31: Cozy Mom Cave Ideas for Autumn Bliss

House Beautiful

When the weather turns blustery, I love to curl up in my cozy little nest. I adore autumn. A comfortable chair, an ottoman for my feet, a lamp on a table and a stack of books—that’s pure bliss. Add a fireplace and I might never leave that spot.

I already have a blogging corner by the fireplace and a small green pull-down desk in my kitchen, but I dream of having a whole room to call my own. Is that too much to ask?

I’ve been planning a dedicated home office where I can gather everything I love in one space—what HomeGoods calls a “Mom Cave.” I’m especially fond of the room in the top photo with the red-and-white striped curtains; that would make me perfectly content.

Having a favorite chair or a quiet corner — or, if you’re fortunate, an entire room — creates a place where your spirit can breathe. Moms and caregivers give so much to others that it’s important to claim a nurturing spot just for yourself. Even a small area with an inspiration board can lift your mood every time you see it. That kind of space helps you recharge so you can keep giving.

Do you have a special place in your home that’s entirely your own?

I have to drive three hours to reach HomeGoods, but I’ll be heading to Portland as soon as I can to shop for new lamps and accessories for my own Mom Cave. I can’t wait!

Dream a little—what would your Mom Cave look like? If you already have one, describe it. I’d love to hear about the features that make it comforting and functional for you.

This weekend I’m giving away FOUR $50 HomeGoods gift cards—one to each random winner. To enter, comment on this post and tell me about your dream Mom Cave. Giveaway ends Tuesday, October 12 at 10 AM PST.

HomeGoods is also running a larger giveaway for a $5,000 gift card and a personal design consultation by designer Elaine Griffin to create a Mom Cave of your own. That would be an amazing prize to win—be sure to enter with HomeGoods for that opportunity!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.
