Autumn Home Tour: Cozy Fall Decor Ideas — Part 2

Fall Decorating - Nature

HWelcome to the first day of fall! I’m thrilled the season is here—boots, cozy layers and crisp air included. If you love autumn as much as I do, come on in. Stay in your boots or kick them off and get comfortable. I like to keep things relaxed, but I also can’t help getting excited about making the home feel warm and inviting for the season.

Fall Home Tours

If this feels like a familiar fall house tour, you’re right. I shared a fall tour recently, and today I’m joining a blogger home tour for a few more glimpses of the rooms as they are now. It’s fun to share new little updates and details each time—so welcome back and welcome to anyone joining from the previous stop on the tour.

If you’re arriving from the last stop on the tour, welcome!

Fall decorating ideas - console table and pinecone jar lamps

I’ve been wanting to fill my glass HomeGoods lamps with seasonal accents for a while, and this week I finally did it. I used pinecones and cinnamon sticks from my stash and filled the glass bases. The result feels warm and instantly fall—simple, natural and perfect for the season.

Seasonally Filled Jar Lamp - Fall Pinecones

These lamps are such an easy way to change the look of a room. I’ve shared ideas for fillable glass lamps before and I love that I can swap elements in and out—pinecones for fall, shells for summer, and so on. It’s an effortless way to craft seasonal style without needing special skills.

Lately I’ve been embracing traditional fall colors—browns, rusty reds, muted greens and maroons—layered over my mostly neutral base. Neutral rooms make it easy to try different color accents, so when I’m in the mood for a little green or a hint of rusty red, I add it and see how it feels. It’s fun to play and change things up for the season.

Simple Fall Mantel - The Inspired Room

I showed the mantel in the previous tour, but here’s a closer look. A large mirror provides a strong focal point above the fireplace so I can add a few seasonal touches around it without overdoing things. Keeping decor simple around a key anchor like a mirror helps the room feel pulled together without fuss.

Cozy Fall Blankets

One of my favorite parts of preparing the home for fall is making spaces cozy with blankets. I daydream about a cabinet full of beautiful throws, like a store display, but for now I’m content with a few inexpensive blankets neatly stacked. It’s a start—and when it cools off I’ll be curled up with one of them in no time.

Fall in the kitchen

In the kitchen, I begin to crave warm breakfasts like oatmeal topped with cinnamon, brown sugar and walnuts, and I find myself baking more. I also enjoy styling open shelves with seasonal pieces. Small touches in the kitchen—fresh fruit, a bowl of nuts or a pretty mug—help set the tone for the slower, cozier days ahead.

Kitchen Sink and Fall Bouquet- The Inspired Room

A blue-and-white vase I found at Goodwill has been filled with cuttings and seasonal flowers. I love bringing nature indoors—fresh flowers or yard clippings add effortless charm and make me smile as I pass through the room. Trader Joe’s often has lovely fall bouquets when I need a quick boost of color and texture.

Memorable gatherings

Shorter days are a plus for me because they mean more candlelight. Candles are one of my favorite parts of this season—warm light and soft scents create an inviting atmosphere. I like grouping candles on trays or placing them in lanterns to create cozy vignettes for evenings at home.

Fall Bedroom Decorating = The Inspired Room

The bedroom gets sweater pillows and cable-knit throws to make it feel extra snug. Layering texture—knits, woven throws and soft pillows—makes the space feel ready for cool mornings and lazy weekends in bed.

Cozy Fall Entry Decorating

Now we’re in the entry, wrapping up the second part of this fall tour. My fiddle leaf fig is still thriving, which makes me happy. Small successes like that are part of the joy of caring for a home through the seasons.

I’m also continuing my series celebrating fall with a 21-day project focused on the little things that make the season special. I’ll be sharing simple ideas and reminders to savor autumn in the weeks ahead—everything from cozy rituals to small decorating touches.
