Festive Hot Seasonal Drinks

I previously shared my cranberry spiced cider recipe and was delighted to hear that many of you tried it. My husband and I enjoy wrapping up in a blanket with a warm mug on chilly nights—there’s something comforting about a homemade hot drink. We also like adding a splash of Baileys Irish Cream (we buy ours at Costco) to elevate the flavor. It makes those cozy evenings even more special.

While traveling recently, I spotted a picture of Hot Cider Nog in the latest Southern Living and couldn’t stop thinking about it. The image stuck with me through the flight, and I’m eager to try making it when I get home. The combination of spiced cider with a creamy, nog-like finish sounds perfect for autumn and the holiday season.

For me, a mug of Hot Cider Nog, a good book, and a warm fire equals fall and holiday perfection. The drink feels festive without being overly complicated, and it’s a nice variation on traditional cider or hot chocolate when you want something a little more indulgent.

If you enjoy experimenting with seasonal beverages, this is a recipe worth trying. It pairs well with baked treats, quiet evenings, and relaxed gatherings with friends or family. Simple touches—like a cinnamon stick for stirring or a light dusting of nutmeg—can make the presentation cozy and inviting.

Three more days of this series! Can I make it until the end? We’ll see!
