I know it might feel early to think about Christmas, but it’s just a little over eight weeks away. I don’t want to rush through fall, yet I like to be ready so I can truly savor the season when it arrives. Preparing ahead is part of my fall nesting ritual.
An advent calendar is a lovely way to slow down and enjoy each day leading up to Christmas. Since many advent calendars begin on December 1, now is a great time to decide whether you’ll keep or start the tradition this year.
Keep your advent tradition simple or get creative—either way, an advent calendar can build meaningful family moments. Use it as a festive countdown, or make it a tool to focus on the deeper meaning of the season by sharing a portion of the Christmas story each day, lighting a candle, reading a short devotional, journaling, or memorizing a verse together. A daily ritual like this encourages connection and helps the season feel less hectic.
You can theme an advent calendar, make it structured, or personalize a basic version to reflect your family’s faith, traditions, and favorite ways to celebrate.
