This Fall Nesting post is in partnership with Old World Kitchen
I adore a cozy, collected kitchen. I wouldn’t feel at home in a kitchen that felt sterile, lifeless, or completely empty. That doesn’t mean I like clutter or mess—I prefer a clean, intentional look—but I also love being surrounded by treasured items that tell the story of our lives.
I don’t always think of myself as a collector, but over the years I’ve gathered a few cherished pieces. If you walked into my kitchen, you might not immediately spot them as a formal collection, but those objects quietly shape the room and reflect the way we live.

Even though my kitchen is newly remodeled, it still feels collected because it contains special items I’ve kept and used over time. These pieces are meaningful, practical, and built to last. They become part of my daily life and of the home’s overall style.
A kitchen is a backdrop for the memories we make, so I love when the craftsmanship, beauty, and functionality of the pieces in it enhance those moments.
My treasured items travel with me from home to home, becoming part of our family history. I’m reluctant to let them go because they carry memories and meaning.

Kitchen Sources
One enduring favorite is my 30-year-old KitchenAid stand mixer. It has sat on my counter since my daughters were little enough to beg to lick the beaters. It’s a bit worn, but it’s beloved because of everything it represents—a lifetime of baking, family, and care.
I’ll keep that mixer as long as it works. There’s something special about keeping well-made items that stand the test of time. They may not be trendy, but they outlast trends and carry their stories forward.

One of my favorite kitchen collections is my assortment of wooden spoons. The day we moved into our first home, I placed a crock on the counter for spoons, sensing they would bring warmth and comfort to our kitchen. They have done just that, day after day.
What began as a few spoons turned into a collection of hand-carved wooden utensils gathered and gifted over the years. They look beautiful and are a pleasure to use.

Many of these utensils came from a family-run workshop in Virginia where pieces are hand carved on the farm. Each piece is crafted with care and often signed and dated by the maker, which only adds to its charm and value.
The smooth finish, subtle variations, and hand-carved details make each spoon unique. A set I love comes from their Dreamware collection; the pieces are elegant, tactile, and made to be used daily. I’m also fond of the vintage-inspired rolling pin that pairs so well with the spoons.
If you’re looking for a meaningful gift or a start to your own collection, hand-carved spoons, a vintage-inspired rolling pin, knives, spatulas, or a complete set can be cherished for years. Heirloom-quality kitchen tools make thoughtful presents for weddings, anniversaries, holidays, or housewarmings.
For last-minute gifting, they also offer a selection of ready-to-ship items, which can be helpful during busy seasons.

Good news: there’s a limited-time discount available—25% off storewide with code INSPIRED25. Ordering early is wise, since handcrafted and vintage pieces often sell out as the holidays approach.

Alongside my wooden utensils, I collect vintage copper pots. Their warm patina adds another layer of cozy character to the kitchen. I don’t have many yet, but building a collection over time is part of the fun.

The shop I mentioned frequently hunts for fine antique copper pieces, some dating back to the 19th century. They often announce new finds to their email list, and items can move quickly once posted.

They also send seasonal product credit to subscribers, making the mailing list worthwhile for anyone who loves handcrafted or vintage kitchenware.

I’m also fond of copper cookie cutters. I kept a few to cut toast and treats into fun shapes for my kids—little pieces that hold big memories.
